Turning 30 and "Sharing"

Whelp it is official I have left my twenties. I don't know why I wanted to make a big deal of turning 30. But, I wanted too. So Joel and I spent a couple of days in Vegas. Now Joel and I are really not Vegas people. I don't like to gamble and I am not a big drinker. But, Vegas was the destination and somehow very appropriate for ending the 20's era. Plus, my parents could come down and watch the kiddo for us.

I think this was the first time I had actually spent time in Vegas. I don't think I have ever been to the strip for more than a day (well, at least since I turned 21). Anyways, it was fun. I couldn't get over how much eating out cost us. But, in the long run it will be a birthday celebration that I won't soon forget. I have, however, decided that when I turn 40 I will be spending it at some sort of spa retreat...I think hiking, massages, and good food is more my style.

I am excited for my 30s. I think the 30's era will be much more my style than the 20's. If you figure out what I mean by that, you get a cookie. ;)

So on to the sharing business.

Ever since Chase was born I have been very open to letting people (that we know in some form) hold and love on him. And Chase loves people. He loves making them smile and loves to be loved upon.

I love to share my boy with people. Maybe this is wrong. I'm sure there are moms out there who are shaking there heads. But, to me, the more people that love my boy the better. I love picking him up after a day away and being told by each and everyone how much they love my boy. I am told repeatedly, Thankyou so much for sharing him with us. That sentence makes my heart melt. Maybe its because I know there are people out there who love my little boy almost as much as I do. Or maybe it is because my little boy is able to show them love in a way that only babies can do. But I love knowing all of this...it brings a smile to my face each and every time.

Chase spent his first weekend away from his parents. I was so nervous about how he would do. He did great! And my parents loved every second of it. I am so happy that I can give him and my parents that experience. Not too mention, Joel and I got to reconnect.

Well I think I have babbled enough.

Bumps, Bruises and Climbing

This goose egg happened within seconds of Chase meeting the corner of our table for the first time. Poor guy! It went down considerably the next day!

One night Chase and Joel decided it was time to learn how to crawl onto the couch. Chase spent at least 30 mins of getting up and down the couch. Oh, and that yellow dump truck in the corner is another favorite climbing place for Chase. He can climb into but he can't climb out of it. That gets a bit frustrating.

Merry Christmas

We spent Christmas this year with Joel's side of the family. It was a lot of fun. I, of course, missed my family. But, that is the bitter sweetness of living so far away from everyone.

We had a blast. Two days were spent skiing and one was spent unwrapping and playing with toys. It really was a great Christmas. Joel spoiled me with a gift card for a massage, some cozy socks, and a printer. Chase got a lot of presents form everyone except Joel and I. Our present is coming later this year in the form of a backyard, play area, outdoor toys. I have a feeling he will use it a ton. ;) On the subject of skiing. I had a lot of fun...but man I need to get over the whole fear. Or maybe I just need to go more than once every ten years. And yes, I nerded it up and wore a helmet. It kept my head warm!

The Reason for the Lack of Posts

Chase is walking. He has been for since late October. The thing is the little guy does not stop! He seriously just walks and walks and walks. Here is an adventure we took at the park/library. He didn't want anything to do with the swing set. Nope, he was content with picking up leaves and pine cones.
Other family news. I PASSED my professional engineering test. No more engineering tests for me (well at least no BIG tests). The PE is a pretty big deal and I'm truly proud of myself for sticking with it. I don't know if I will ever use it, but at least I know I got it. I think not being pregnant was pretty much my key to success.

The Craziness of Life

Happy FALL!
Isn't it amazing just how fast life can change on you? One minute you are high the next you are low and then another high comes.
I was told my last post was a little too down. I honestly didn't mean to sound down. I was just bored and stressed.
Since the last post a lot has been happening. I took my test. Joel was offered a couple of jobs. Chase started walking. Joel accepted and started work. And I just tried to keep up with things. We are very lucky/fortunate with how things turned out. It looks like we will be able to stay put for a little while longer.
Joel accepted a job with the Town of Dewey. Which means he has an extra 10 minutes to his commute and we can stay in our house. His first day was Monday. And tomorrow will be his first paid vacation...the joys of having a government job!!!
Chase is no longer crawling. He started standing up on his own (without any assistance from surrounding furniture) last week. Since then, I have seen him crawl twice. It is very strange to see such a small being walking around. I keep looking at him with pure amazement. Today we played "ball" or fetch. I would throw the ball, he would bring it back to me. It kept him amused for a good 10 minutes.
Well, that is all I got. Thankyou for all the thoughts and well wishes.

It's so quiet!

Warning: There is a lot of babbling below!

Today Joel took Chase down to Phoenix. He has done this a couple of times. Chase gets to hang out with his Numa and Joel goes out on the boat with his dad.

Today though it feels oddly quiet in the house. I guess I'm just use to having my little boy around. Strange how I have gone 28 years without a baby and 1 day by myself makes me lonely.
On several other notes. Joel was laid off (he got the we really don't want to lose you, but we don't have work speech). I have been cramming for the PE. A test which I HATE with a passion and will most likely be taking again (yes, I am that positive).
It is amazing how things happen. It wasn't too long ago that both Joel and I's companies were looking at hiring more people because they were swamped. Now we are both looking for work. I guess it just goes to show that you really can't plan life out. Like my mama always says "life is about the journey not the destination." But, I can't help wondering where our next destination will be.
Chase and I are enjoying Joel being home, though!
