We started out for Elko at 1130 on Saturday. The plan was to get to Vegas and go to a shopping mall to waste time until Aunt Britt's flight came in (830pm). So that's what we did. Chase was a good sport until the last 30 mins in Vegas. Which, of course, was also the time I was semi-lost and trying hard to pay attention. We wasted a good 4 hours in the mall. Which was not an easy thing to do! I did make a note, that next to the mall was a zoo (which would have been perfect if it hadn't of been 100+ outside). The mall kept us entertained. We hung out at the kid gym area for a good hour and just did laps the rest of the time. At one point I was holding Chase, pushing the stroller, and trying to keep him from climbing over me. Yep, he figured out how to push on his legs to elevate himself over my shoulders. Not so easy to contain one handed.
Anyways after we picked up Aunt Britt. We headed to Pahrump for the night. Chase did good on that part of trip. THEN we got to Pahrump. Britt, Chase and I were going to sleep in the same room. But, Chase didn't want to sleep. So Chase and I ended up on the twin bed. And this is where we spent the majority of the night being overly amazed at the energy the little guy had and just how much he loved doing the downward dog yoga pose. So over all, Chase and I got a couple of hours of sleep that night.
We woke up at 7 on Sunday. I fed Chase and said let's get this over with. We piled into the car, stopped at Sonic (Britt was craving it...DC is not happening when it comes to Sonics) and continue our journey. We made two stops along the way. And well here is the absolutely amazing part of the whole journey, Chase pretty much slept the ENTIRE way. I think he may have cried for a total of 30 minutes, the ENTIRE trip. You may wonder why ENTIRE is in caps, well the trip ended up being 8 hours long. I know some adults who would have cried/complained longer. And it even gets more amazing. The little guy actually slept great that night!
On the way back, he did pretty good. He started to fuss for the last part, but as soon as Aunt Britt went in the back, he was happy again. And the Pahrump to Prescott was great, again all sleep. I was VERY fortunate. I have heard horror stories about long road trips with one parent.
So the pics.
Here's Chase at the gas station. Right before leaving Chino.
Here we are at the mall. We were getting bored, so I pulled out the camera.
Not the best picture of me (it was late, hot and I was tired). But, here we are at the airport. Again, we were bored so I pulled out the camera.
One of the stops on the way to Elko, is a big Castle that is filled with candy and toy cars. The only down side is the candy is all pre-package. So that is the story of Chase's first road trip. He didn't do too bad.
